What Is Included?
Program tuition covers all lodging, transportation during the tour, breakfast and dinner daily (three meals daily on community service programs and Costa Rica Adventure), all activities, rentals, admissions, and gratuities.
We suggest spending money be brought in the form of a reloadable debit card or credit card. Spending money will be used for lunch, souvenirs, personal items, occasional snacks, and laundry. For these purposes, teenagers on average spend about $200 per week.
Packing and Laundry
A detailed packing list is provided for each of our programs. We ask each person to bring a week’s worth of casual clothing, packed in a roller duffel bag, up to 32” in length and not exceeding 50 pounds (this is the limit imposed by most airlines). Additionally, a carry-on bag or backpack is usually brought for extra items. At the end of each week, our group visits a laundromat, and we teach the teenagers how to do laundry (Rein Teen Tours provides the detergent). Yes, your child will know how to do laundry by the end of the summer!
Cell Phone Policy
We permit our participants to bring cell phones on tour. Cell phones provide a level of comfort to parents while their teenagers are away from home. Cell phones also provide the means for our tour leaders to communicate instantaneously with all members of our tour group. It is important, however, that cell phone usage does not interfere with the group dynamics and daily experience of the tour. We implement policies to curb the use of cell phones during meals, group activities, and group travel.
Relative/Friend Visitation
We recognize it is exciting to visit a friend or relative who lives in one of the locations your teenager will visit this summer. We permit teenagers to visit relatives (who are over 21 years old) with written permission from a parent. Overnight stays are not permitted on the evening before a travel day.
Trip Insurance
Rein Teen Tours offers a trip insurance plan through TII (Travel Insured International). The highlights of the plan include coverage for a full refund if you must cancel your tour prior to departure and a pro-rated refund along with any additional airfare expense if your teenager must leave a tour before its conclusion. Trip insurance information is forwarded to you in March. The insurance premium varies based on tour choice and typically averages around 4% of the trip cost plus airfare.
